After years of working together on private yachts, Patrick and Rebecca Anderson made the life-changing decision to settle in Denver, Colorado. They went from predictable water-bound careers to running their own nordic tent rental business in the mountains.
After discovering nordic tents while planning their own wedding in the Scottish Highlands, they fell in love with the beautiful combination of luxury and nature that these structures offer and were determined to provide Denver couples—and other clients—with the same experience.
After doing 50 events in 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic drove a high number of event cancellations, leaving Under the Sky with only a few events in 2020. Luckily, 2021 brought with it more events, especially the type of outdoor events they serve.
Patrick and Rebecca enjoy the flexibility and autonomy they have as small business owners, as well as the chance to hire and develop hard-working team members. They remind other small businesses it’s not always about luck or talent. Often, success simply comes down to your ability to work hard until the job is done. Grit like this is necessary for every small business owner.
With the growth of their business, workers’ comp insurance had become 20 percent of Under the Sky’s operating costs. Patrick and Rebecca heard about Pie Insurance on the radio, and—after hearing the ad five times—figured it was a sign to get a quote.
They had an excellent interaction with their rep, and their quote ended up saving them nearly 50 percent on their workers’ comp insurance. Having been through two painless annual audits, they say “it’s been a great experience.”
